I dry ice blasted a bakers rack from a large bakery. It was covered in baked-on protein and oil residue. The ice was ineffective. I tried for 20 minutes with 4 different nozzles. That got me about 10% done. I soda blasted the remaining 90% in 25 more minutes. Perhaps I was just not picking projects that ice was not meant for. I went on to attempt to blast an auto door panel and cast aluminum powder coated patio chair. The ice just did not strip the paint quickly enough to be cost effective. SodaBlast Systems Appoints 12 New Preferred Contractors For Eco-Friendly Boat Hull Cleaning.
HOUSTON, TEXAS, MAY 2008 (USA) - SodaBlast Systems today announced the appointment of 12 new preferred contractors for its eco-friendly boat hull cleaning systems. There are now more than 160 company-trained contractors providing SodaBlasting services worldwide.
In the SodaBlasting process, a non-destructive stream of air-driven, specially formulated baking soda under high pressure is first used to strip the antifoulant paint and open the blister. Then, to prepare the surface for repair and repainting, the affected area around the blister is feathered by split-second, swirled "micro-blasting”. This finishes the surface in preparation for repair. The entire process can be accomplished in 1/10 the time as traditional techniques, resulting in a properly prepared surface that is ready for blister repair and painting.
